The Internet as an Instant Gratification

You are tired of watching the same shows over and over again on television. You are tired of listening to the same lists of MP3 songs on your computer or Ipod. Watching DVDs and playing simple video games doesn’t even enjoy you anymore. In short, you are terribly bored. You want to get all of these in an instant.

Well, if the Internet is your last and only refuge, welcome to the club! You are one of the billions of users of Internet. You are one of the 400 million users of, well what else? Facebook.  Ooops, don’t lie. Accept it. Logging in to your Facebook account throws all your sorrows away. Am I right?

Studies show that the Internet is now one of the top means of recreation. And it is considered as the most preferred gratification with an overwhelmingly high speed. You can get what you want in a blink of an eye. Now how’s that for an instant gratification?

While Facebook has over 400 million users and still counting, Youtube is receiving for about 100 million videos a day. That is 24 hours of videos uploaded every minute and 14 billion videos viewed as of May 2010. That’s a lot, isn’t it? No, that’s unimaginable. Google has even more the sum of all users of Facebook and Youtube each day. Now, how’s that? Unthinkable?

This is how the Internet has influenced all the people in the world. It is considered as a need or a necessity to satisfy all areas of life for almost every individual. And all these needs must be met instantly, I mean right away. Almost all that you can think of can be done instantly on the Net.

While we need the Internet in communication, entertainment, research, recreation, interactions, investigation, job hunts, business transactions, and for business pursuits, it will always be the main source of pleasure.

The pleasure of watching television and DVDs, playing video games and listening to your Mp3s can all be experienced on the Internet, all in a matter of split seconds.
