What is Pinay Scandal?
Well, scandal, as most of us know, is an involvement of anything that results into shame or humiliation; anything that degrades your integrity, dignity, and value as a human being. Pinay is the Tagalog word for Filipina. So Pinay Scandal basically means a Filipina who has been disgraced, a Filipina who is dishonored through the act and through a public distribution of the act.
Does Pinay Scandal mean pornography?
If scandal means anything that leads into degeneration of oneself, and pornography, which means obscenity and immorality, then Pinay Scandal is pornography. Pinay Scandal is in form of images and videos which content are the most private sexual intercourse of partners. Most of these videos are intended for private use for among each partner; but have distributed to the public unexpectedly due to carelessness and due to the power of the World Wide Web.
So what about it?
Well, it’s because this phrase has always been a hot topic for Internet users. No, not the majority, but many users, mostly males, are searching for these two words in Google and other search engines.
What’s so interesting about it?
Well, it’s pretty obvious that males, particularly straight Filipino males, are, of course, fascinated by Filipinas who secretly take off their clothes and doing the most obscene sexual act with their partners. This is not to say that Filipino males love seeing women who are dishonored, but they just like to watch naked women, to fill their sexual desires.
While Pinay Scandal is popular for Filipino Internet users, it is also searched from different parts of the world like United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Canada, and the United States. Though only a small percentage, it’s clear that this phrase is also hot to foreigners or probably Filipinos in abroad.
Here’s the keyword statistics for this phrase in Google from 2004 to present:
Since the creation of this phrase it has become a favorite expression for even teenagers and young adults whenever they want to see an incriminating sexual video. Or, even using it just to poke fun targeting their cellphone cameras into parties, wild dances, which lead into sexual acts.
This is how Pinay Scandal becomes popular among curious adolescents, or perhaps, to the lonely male perverts who like to fill up their sexual fantasies. This is how it became popular in search engines on the Net.
Due to this popularity an anti-Pinay Scandal campaign was initiated by Marghil Macuha and Selaplanato bring back the lost reputation of Filipinas on the Net. The campaign is through the participation of Philippine bloggers to make posts about Pinay Scandal. Not to promote p*rn but to discourage p*rn addicts from seeing those p*rn sites in search engines, which degrade the true image of Filipinas. This is also to deceive them from believing that the site they’ve landed is a p*rn site.
The purpose of the campaign is also to lower the Pinay Scandal p^rn sites in search engine rankings. And by doing this Pinay scandal posts from bloggers will ultimately rank higher than the Pinay Scandal p*rn sites. This was in 2007. Now the phrase is getting the ups and downs in Google searches.
However, this kind of campaign, or also called, SEO keyword hijacking or black hat SEO, is discouraged by Google and Alexa because of the dangers the blog will experience in the future. According to scolexportal.info, for instance, if this post will get into the top three in Google’s first page in search results, then Google will consider this blog as a p*rn site, just for the reason of the title name and keyword spamming.
I just hope this post won’t make it on the top three and I don’t think it will because I don’t plan to do keyword spamming and I don’t intend to rank higher than other p#rn sites. Even if I do, I’m not good in SEO. This post is just to inform Internet users the truth about this popular phrase in search engines.

Hello, Pareng Nonoy! I’m new with SEO, but, as a newbie, it’s important to know how SEO works, both good and bad techniques. So, I’m still interested in this kind of topic. I even downloaded the GUERILLA BLOGGER .pdf of Mr. Macuha, just for learning purposes. Of course, as a responsible blogger, we have to be careful with what we’re gonna publish in our blog sites. Tnx for the info! =)
