Last night was great. My friend and I went to one of my favorite hang-outs in Cebu: The Outpost. It had been a long while since the last time I’ve gone to the place. Last night was the best because we had the pleasure to watch Cuarenta, formerly known as 40 the Band.

Cuarenta now plays blues music, not like before in the 80′s when they used to play New Wave. Today, they progressed into a different musical style and art. Technically they were really good. Although last night the band played rock n roll music. The performance was 100% excellent. It was the kind of performance I haven’t seen in years. They played the popular rock n roll songs like Jimmy Hendrix’s Purple Haze, ACDC’s Highway to Hell, Led Zepellin’s Immigrant Song, Black Dog, Communication Breakdown and A Whole Lotta Love.
I remember we used to cover Black Dog with my former band in Davao, but the song didn’t sound like what I’ve heard last night. Cuarenta was really awesome and really kicked some big AS*. I was dancing and turning, doing the Robert Plant feminine moves. I almost took out my shirt and mimic Robert Plant, but I realized the crowd wasn’t too rocking and dancing as though they were watching a choral speech.

What makes my rock spirit go wild was when Cuarenta played my favorite Led Zep song A Whole Lotta Love. The band was supposed to be done. But when the crowd was cheering more, I shouted, “Whole Lotta Love!” and immediately the guitars go tenen nene nen chug chug chug chug chug chug tenen nenen nen. I went doing my own Robert Plant moves again and sing as if I was the singer of the band. I almost went on stage and wanted to take the mic away from the girl singer and sing my heart out. But I realized it wasn’t proper for a crowd with only two people singing and dancing. Gosh. Had the rest of the crowd did the same thing, I would have gotten myself much crazier on stage. hehehe.
The place was really cool. Still looks great as it was few years ago. This is the venue where Philippine rock artists perform and meet, playing their own music creation and covers. Rock bands from Manila always go to The Outpost and play whenever they get to Cebu.

I wanted to post the video here but it was really bad, taken from BB phone. I didn’t bring with me my best friend Sony. It wasn’t planned and they were set out to play at 10PM. So there and then, we made our presence.
