About

The man behind

My friends call me Nonoy or Noynoy, whichever suits their tongues.I am from Davao and currently residing in Cebu. I’ve been here in the Queen City of the South since 2007.

the band

I used to be a full-time musician before I came in Cebu, and still trying to get this passion out of my system. Unfortunately I can’t. This is why it still brings me to write songs behind everybody’s back. I would only have the chance to sing these songs with my band when I get back in my hometown during the Holidays. the blog

My idea to become a full-time blogger came upon my mind to publish my own essays and short stories, which became humble entries in Palanca for quite some time, but never won, of course. I was a young writer and didn’t have the formal education in writing, and didn’t even have the slightest talent to be a creative writer.

his works

My passion in writing began after reading a pile of books on my father’s desk. I loved writing at days when there weren’t any shows for my band. I was actually writing not for the sake of anybody but for the sake of vanity. And so the essays, the short stories, and the screenplays that I had written were abandoned, kept in a crypt. This vanity struck me again and decided to write again. And this time I wanted people to read them. This is how I made from nonoyavellanosa.blogspot.com to nonoyavellanosa.wordpress.com.

Cebu and Davao

The idea of Cebu and Davao was out of intuition after reading a couple of blogs from the Net. The first blog that was properly introduced to me was I Love/Hate America, which was authored by one of my childhood neighbors back in my hometown. The author’s name is Vivienne Paras Coyne who is now married to an American.

Since she migrated to the land of the free, she also has her own sentiments and views about the greatness and the ugliness of America. When the words love and hate grasped my mind, it automatically struck me with the words Cebu and Davao, since these are the two cities that I’ve been journeying. Although the combination Cebu and Davao has nothing to do with the opposite words love and hate. They’re just two words that gave me an idea to blog about two great cities in the Philippines.

the logo

There isn’t anything meaningful about the logo. It’s just a picture that I’ve taken at Mergrande Ocean Resort in Davao that I had to embed in this blog since I couldn’t think of a branding. It’s the same image as on the header page. I was thinking of “horizons” I guess, which is the theme on the blog’s description. ;-)

his blogging buddies

From then on I began to make friends on the blogosphere like Leylander of mycebuphotoblog.wordpress.com, blog icon Blogie Robillo of angdabawenyo.com, super blogger idol Jehzeel of jehzlauconcepts.com, seasoned blogger Mark Aethen Agana of aethen.com, true-blue Cebuana blogger Agnes Jimenez ofEmpressofdrac.com, Bofill Bernardes of angmaniniyot.co.cc. and Jon ofhalojin.blogspot.com. I’m still trying to get more of these intellectual and very creative human beings in the blogosphere. Thanks to you guys! ;-)

his journey

While Cebu and Davao is more of my adventure in these two great cities–my euphoria, the hazards, and sentiments–it provides travel tips, sights, news, events, and food for travelers in Cebu and Davao. Sometimes I post some cool stuffs about sports, movies, games, gadgets, blogging and SEO. So if you’re seeking for new horizons and new beginnings, then you have come to the right site. This is my journey to two great worlds.
