Should high school teachers be blogging?

When I began blogging, I had never even read a blog. I had no writing skills and I didn’t know I had anything worthwhile to say (sadly, I still lack both) but I knew that some things need to be said without being connected to the official school website, with a blog you can have the discussions with people from all over the world. This is the real benefit to school teachers who blog, or use Twitter, or participate in any type of Social Media.

Now, I have been speaking with a number of schools and education organisations this week about how blogs and social media can help them share knowledge, learn from others and develop a community.

But before I could explain any of that I had to show the difference between a website and a blog. Continue reading →

Are You Addicted to Unhappiness? How To Deal With It?

I’m sure that there are some people out there who believe that happiness is something out of their control, and others who think that it is something we have to fight long and hard for to obtain. In other words, it’s a personal journey we all must take internally to get there.

Unfortunately, in this day and age, the number of people suffering from clinical depression is frightening in itself. It’s quite ironic how we, as humans, are rapidly expanding and developing useful technologies that “connect” people to one another, yet so many people out there feel more alone than ever.

So what does this tell you about the real reason why people these days are stuck in a funk of unhappiness? I think a lot of it has to do with how society puts too much a major emphasis on achievement (academically and financially) and not enough emphasis on enjoying life and being friggin’ happy!! I get so frustrated at how society functions at times.

Writing an eBook with help from a VA

My name is Patricia, I employed a virtual assistant from the Philippines in order to help me develop my eBook that I would like to offer for sale on Kindle.

It was my plan to produce a 50-page eBook, and it would have already taken me hours, if not days, to design a cover, not forgetting all of the research and writing, formatting and so on.

In my regular life, I am a consultant, and I can charge anything between $150 to $250 per hour depending on my customer, so this gives you an idea the amount of money that I might be earning by doing something else, my regular job.

How to enjoy the summer

If you’ve successfully passed your courses during the normal school year, you know what comes after that: summer. It’s the greatest time of the year. The sun is shining, the days are beautiful, and the nights are filled with fun. And if you think about it, how many more summers are you going to have to yourself before they are filled with 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. work? In college, you might get an internship or something. So, are you wondering how to properly enjoy the summer?

Play “School’s Out” by Alice Cooper
This is mandatory for the first day of summer vacation. This needs to be blasting for the entire day to get yourself in the ‘I don’t have to do anything’ mood.

Get Other Good Summer Tunes
Make a nice CD with the following songs – Summer of ‘69 by Bryan Adams, Summer in the City by The Lovin’ Spoonful, California Girls by The Beach Boys, and Hot Fun in the Summertime by Sly and the Family Stone. Continue reading →

How to promote a small business website and a blog

Commenting on blogs is a great way to gain exposure for your site, but are you getting the most benefit from your time? A good comment is going to send traffic to your site while a bad comment will get deleted or ignored. Follow these tips and you’ll be commenting like a pro.

Be part of the community

Don’t be a drive-by commenter. Find top blogs in your industry and subscribe to their RSS feed, (tip make use of Feedly app) Make yourself a usual. Think Cheers, the TV show from the 80’s. Every time Norm walked through the door he got a hearty shout from the rest of the bar. He was popular because of his regular engaging conversation. Do the same!

Get a Gravatar

I’m really bad with names, and so are most people. But, I’ll never forget a face. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Gravatars they are user images that are tied to an email address. When you leave a comment with the email it posts your pic. Continue reading →

How reading a lot of blogs helps your business

I spend a great deal of time reading blogs within my niche and so should YOU!

Why the heck should I read blogs?!

Very good question! The answer comes in a few parts:

1. Authority

The more you read and comment on relevant blogs within your niche, the more you’ll be known as the authority. I have had many people message my on FB or send me a DM on Twitter because they saw my relevant and detailed reply to a particular blog post. They must have realized I knew what I was talking about since they decided to contact me, right?

2. Recognition

You might be thinking ‘authority’ and ‘recognition’ are the same thing, but they aren’t. Well, not totally. What I mean by recognition is when the owner of the blog themselves notices you and approaches you about one thing or anything. Maybe they want you to be a guest blogger, or cross promotion or maybe they want to elicit your services. Point is, if you can grab the attention of the owner of the blog, then you must have been leaving awesome comments! Continue reading →

Online Networking vs Offline Networking which is better?

It happened so often that I get on the computer in the morning, drink a pot of coffee, maybe eat some breakfast, take a nap, get back on your computer where you stay until wee hours of the night. For what?

I fell victim to this for almost a year, I didn’t see the light of day and fell into some fairly deep depression because of it. Luckily, I have been through worse and came out the other side just fine, hell usually I am wiser and stronger!

Online Networking:

Yes, I am a huge fan of how you can network with people from around the world online. I network with people in Australia, England, Germany, Costa Rica, and many other countries.

I have made some great connections online, and continue to do so. I also have created plenty of business for both on and offline businesses through online networking. So, don’t get me wrong, but I think if you forget completely about good old fashioned face to face networking you could be missing out on a lot of new biz or biz opportunities!

How to grow your business with a Virtual Assistant

We talked with Kate about her journey to becoming a successful online entrepreneur.

She’s a manager, a publisher, and a blogger, and we were talking about all the cool things that she is doing. She worked on a number of websites and you might say that she knows what she’s doing. She’s got multiple streams of income working for her and today we will talk how she has grown her business by hiring virtual assistants from the Philippines.

So Kate, thanks again for joining us today. What is your business about and what are the challenges? is a website that lists all GED preparation classes and testing centers across America, and we also review online GED courses. This means that our people sign up for the course and follow the lessons. We asked our VA to follow online GED lessons and then write a short review. Continue reading →

How Virtual Assistant can help creating infoproducts

My Name is Aga, my website is  about creating perfect girls’ apparel collections. I am also an infopreneur and I make money by creating infoproducts and sometimes selling physical products that I buy in China. When I first started out I thought I should and could do everything, and I did everything by myself. I learned how to work with WordPress, and I learned how to code.

I’m really not an expert at coding but I learned how to do that all on my own. Looking back I wasted a ton of time and time is money especially in this business. Looking back I really wish I knew about virtual assistants which is kind of why we’re bring this podcast out and explaining exactly what they are for those who don’t know what they are. It took me two and a half months to finish an eBook that was already 95% written. Continue reading →
